Department of Chemistry NMR Facility
The Department of Chemistry operates two Bruker Ascend 400 NMRs. One instrument is housed in Salem Hall on the Reynold campus and the other is located in building 60S at Wake Downtown. Both are equipped with 60 place sample changers and variable temperature BBO probes. The downtown machine uses a liquid nitrogen cooled 5 mm Prodigy BBO probe whereas the Salem Hall machine uses the room temperature Smart BBO probe. The major differences are the Salem Hall machine is less sensitive but can perform 19F with 1H decoupling. We also have the InSightMR flow system in use on the Salem Hall machine. Contact Dr. Marcus Wright for questions concerning use.
