The Chemistry Center has moved to an on-call tutoring service with the same Chemistry Center instructors who were working in the Center before the campus closure.
How It Works
Simply use the tutoring schedule for and find the current time and click of a tutor’s name. Email the tutor with
(1) your preferred virtual contact method (e.g. Zoom, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, etc.) and any information they will need to reach you with that method
(2) a sentence or two about what you need help with
The tutors will contact students in the order they are emailed. This is a new system for everyone, so please be patient and contact Dr. Wren if you have any issues.
Mission Statement of the Chemistry Center: The Chemistry Center provides a positive space where students can interact with Chemistry course material in unique and meaningful ways. Student learning will be facilitated by interactions with Chemistry Center instructors and with peers, focusing on both cognitive and affective domains.
More information: Chemistry Center Brochure
Location: Salem 109
Operating Hours: Sunday-Thursday 5-9 PM
Chemistry Center opens on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Come check out the Chemistry Center, located on the first floor of Salem Hall. This space has whiteboards on every wall, a touch screen TV, all situated in an active learning classroom.
The Chemistry Center instructors are both Chemistry graduate students and undergraduate students who are majoring in Chemistry. Instructors will provide assistance in learning chemical concepts, problem-solving strategies, and answer general questions. They will provide students with additional learning resources and limited help using digital homework platforms.
The Chemistry Center instructors WILL NOT answer problems from homework assignments, take-home exams, or any problem sets that will be graded. However, they can work on similar types of problems provided by the student.
Drop-in tutoring for LECTURE material will be available Sunday-Thursday from 5-9 PM for CHM 108, 111, 122, 23, 223, 280.
Checking-In to the Chemistry Center
Please use the iPad kiosk to check-in and to check-out of the Chemistry Center. It’s fun and easy and you might just win a prize.
Supplement will be available for certain lower-division courses (currently a pilot program). If your lecture section is not represented, you can contact another section’s SI leader to get information about when and where SI sessions are taking place.
