Description of Research
New materials provided the inspiration for the next generation of technologies. Nanocrystal synthesis provides a direct route to rapidly develop functional materials with precise control of elemental composition, morphology and crystallinity. Our goal is to use this synthetic flexibility to (1) create high performance electrocatalytic and optical devices and (2) design experiments that let us probe the relationship between structure and function to gain insight that can be applied to all materials. To this end, we strive to combine experiment with theory understand how the nanocrystal surface alters reactivity.
