Two Faculty Positions Open (June 2023)

Students enjoy a warm spring afternoon on the plaza

The Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University expects to fill two faculty positions to begin July 1, 2023. We invite applications for two faculty positions: 1) A tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level and 2) A non-tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Teaching Professor level. We seek faculty with a commitment to the teacher-scholar model and to enhancing the breadth, depth, and diversity of our chemistry programs. We strive for inclusivity and seek applicants with demonstrated success or interest in working with diverse groups. We especially encourage applications from those belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences.

The assistant teaching professor position welcomes candidates who will support the curriculum in areas of general chemistry and biochemistry with a commitment to teaching excellence, advising, and service to our undergraduate degree programs in the Department of Chemistry. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related area. This is a full-time, permanent, non-tenure-track teaching line, offering opportunities for promotion. The review of applications will begin on Oct. 15, 2022.

The tenure-track assistant professor position welcomes candidates with research expertise in organic chemistry, broadly defined. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related area. In addition to high-quality teaching, tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program involving graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will be able to teach organic chemistry lecture and lab courses at both introductory and advanced levels. Review of applications will begin on Oct. 1, 2022.

We are a Ph.D. granting department whose mission is to lead in undergraduate and graduate education and research ventures that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of chemistry.
